Australian Schools Plus has named King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) Australia chair David Friedlander as its new board chair.

Friedlander stepped into the role on 21 November. He succeeds founding chair Angus James, who was in the role for nine years beginning 2015.

Friedlander chaired the Public Education Foundation for four years and was a director for a decade.

“I am honoured to follow on directly from the great work done by Angus James and have the opportunity to serve as the chair of the board at Australian Schools Plus. I’m excited by Schools Plus’s bold vision to provide more than 150,000 children per year with access to the opportunities, skills, and resources they need to thrive through school and beyond. We strongly believe that every child has the right to the same opportunities," said Friedlander.

He added that he was eager to work alongside new CEO Sherrill Nixon, who took over from Rosemary Conn.
