HSF brings in new partner in Brisbane

Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has boosted it Brisbane team, welcoming to the firm a specialist in workplace health and safety law.

Aaron Anderson has joined the firm’s partnership and its employment, industrial relations, and safety (EIRS) team. He moved from Norton Rose Fulbright, where he was a partner for nearly 10 years.

His practice handles workplace health and safety law, industrial relations, and regulatory and compliance matters, serving clients in a range of industries including construction, resources, energy, retail, tourism, life sciences and transport. He has advised on some of Australia’s most complex and sensitive workplace health and safety matters, the global firm said.

“Aaron brings a wealth of workplace health and safety expertise and knowledge, and is a tremendous complement to our national team. He’s known for practical, commercial and responsive advice to his clients. He will join Brisbane partners Michael Coonan and Kirsty Faichen in further strengthening that practice,” said Miles Bastick, regional head of practice for the EIRS team

He said that the appointment showed the firm’s continuing investment in its workplace health and safety expertise.

“Health and safety is a core value for many of our clients. They trust us to help them understand legal and regulatory issues, and to give strategic advice to meet their objectives. This can be complex and fascinating work, and requires lawyers at the top of their game,” said partner Steve Bell, who leads the firm’s Australian workplace health and safety practice. “Aaron’s experience speaks for itself, and he’s going to be a great addition to our growing national team. Adding Aaron’s legal and strategic insight really cements our team as the leading national safety practice in Australia.”
