Simpson Grierson attracts Clifford Chance project expert

Simpson Grierson has attracted a project expert from Magic Circle firm Clifford Chance to its roster.

Edward Norman joins Simpson Grierson as a senior associate. He is a veteran transactional lawyer with a wealth of experience in matters involving asset and loan receivable sales, procurement, leasing, services agreements and manufacture and supply arrangements.

His clients include banks, institutional investors, corporates, sponsors and investment funds. He has worked on matters involving the UK Ministry of Defence, HSBC and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Norman has guided clients from the transportation, infrastructure and defence industries with regard to the financing and commercial aspects of large-scale projects. He has handled billion-pound PPP transactions and million-pound financing deals.

He will be operating from Simpson Grierson’s office in Wellington.

Simpson Grierson chair Anne Callinan said that Norman’s experience in this area would bolster the firm’s already-strong offering in the transportation and infrastructure project space.

“Edward is a great addition to our Wellington office, and brings with him a wide range of project experience gained at a top international firm,” she said.

In a significant run with Clifford Chance’s London branch that lasted nearly eight years, Norman practised across the firm’s asset finance and project finance teams.

Last month, Simpson Grierson also boosted its senior associate ranks with the promotion of Matthew Hill (government) and Greg Mitchell (corporate and commercial).
