The Whangārei lawyer focuses on family law matters
WRMK Lawyers has welcomed family law expert David Shanahan as a consultant in its Whangārei office.
He has practised for more than four decades, focusing on all aspects of family law. He has tackled matters involving relationship property, elder law, wills and estates, Māori land, property and commercial law.
Shanahan has appeared before the High Court, Family Court, District Court, Māori Land Court, Māori Appellate Court and the Waitangi Tribunal as a barrister. He has served as a Lawyer for Child and a Youth Advocate.
He launched David Shanahan Lawyer in 1998, where he operated for nearly 30 years. He is part of the New Zealand Law Society (as well as its family law section), the Auckland District Law Society, the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand, and Collaborative Advocacy NZ.
Shanahan will commence at WRMK on 4 August. He will be joined by his assistant Lisa Slavich.
Earlier this year, the firm also welcomed Surrey Coombes to its Kerikeri team as a senior lawyer focusing on property law.
