Southern Cross Travel Insurance names Sarah Owen as new chief risk and legal officer

Southern Cross Travel Insurance has appointed Sarah Owen as its new chief risk and legal officer.

She steps into the role in April, replacing acting CRLO Rebecca Sellers. Interim CEO Anita Hawthorne said Owen was joining the team as it executes what she described as an “ambitious growth strategy”.

Owen was associate governor of risk, compliance and legal and chief risk officer at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand – Te Pūtea Matua. She was also the general manager of corporate strategy and general counsel at the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation Fund – Te Kaitiaki Taha Penihana Kaumātua o Aotearoa.

She was Westpac NZ/BT Financial Group’s senior legal counsel and board secretary for wealth (KiwiSaver, funds management, life insurance) companies. Moreover, she worked with MinterEllisonRuddWatts and Lavan.

Owen joined Juno alongside Jon Wall last year. She supports ACC.
