Bell Gully partner Anna Buchly has been named chair of the Takeovers Panel.

Anna Buchly was recognized as one of The Top Female Lawyers in Australia and New Zealand. Read all the winners here.

She succeeds Carl Blanchard, who leaves the panel along with Sacha Judd. Buchly will be working alongside new deputy chair David Goatley.

Simpson Grierson partner Michael Pollard and Buddle Findlay partner Sarah McEwan have joined the panel to replace Blanchard and Judd.

Pollard is on Simpson Grierson’s board of management, while McEwan took a seat on Buddle Findlay’s board earlier this year. Both lawyers are corporate specialists that have worked extensively on matters involving M&A and capital markets.

“We are delighted to welcome Michael and Sarah to the panel. Their wealth of experience in complex public market transactions will strengthen the panel’s ability to safeguard fairness and integrity in New Zealand’s takeovers market”, Buchly said.

She lauded Blanchard’s “outstanding leadership and commitment to the panel” and praised Judd’s contributions to the panel.

“We look forward to building on their work with Michael and Sarah as part of the team”, Buchly said.

Buchly was named deputy chair of the Takeovers Panel in 2022. She has been on the panel since 2019.
