Base Law has expanded its team with the appointments of lawyers Belinda Williams, Nicholas Eketone-TeKanawa, and Jane Zohrab, reported the New Zealand Law Society.

Williams has broad experience dealing with residential and commercial conveyancing, relationship property, subdivisions, wills, enduring power of attorneys, trusts, asset planning, and estates. Originally a resident of Melbourne, she relocated to New Zealand to pursue a legal career.

Prior to joining Base Law, she served as a solicitor at Blackwood Legal in Pukekohe for seven years. She also worked as a legal clerk at Castle/Brown Barristers & Solicitors.

Eketone-TeKanawa specialises in business and property legal services. He also practices in the areas of employment, relationship property, and immigration. He initially practised law in Dunedin before transferring to the North Shore in Auckland.

In his early 20s, he relocated to Japan for 10 years before returning to New Zealand and pursuing a legal career. In line with his knowledge of Japanese language and culture, he provides legal advice and support to Japanese businesses and entrepreneurs.

Zohrab has been practising law since 1996. Prior to her return to New Zealand in 2020, she was operating her own family law practice in Australia.

Her experience encompasses all areas of family law. She advises on relationship property matters and drafts and negotiates contracting out, prenuptial, and separation agreements. She also guides clients on parenting and legal issues involving children.

In addition, she is a qualified collaborative family law practitioner. During a collaborative process, she allows families to work with professionals to create their own agreements without resorting to judicial proceedings.
