Thynne + Macartney has welcomed Richard Knox as its first new GM in 12 years.

Knox started with the firm on 6 November after finishing up at Allianz Group subsidiary Allianz Partners Australia, where he was HR director. He also logged a six-year stint as Ashurst’s head of HR.

At Allianz Partners Australia, Knox worked alongside the organisation’s CEO to spearhead a post-pandemic transformation and growth agenda. At Ashurst, he managed the operations the 10 offices in the firm’s APAC network in addition to developing and delivering a shared services strategy, Thynne + Macartney said.

The move comes as Thynne + Macartney celebrated the 130th anniversary of the partnership. Knox highlighted change, AI and cybersecurity-related challenges as issues that would be “front of mind” for clients in the coming days.

The firm confirmed its partners selected Knox from a wide candidate pool following an “extensive” search process. He succeeds Ashley Lamb, who commenced as CEO at Coleman Greig in August.
