Insurance expert returns to HFW

Firm adds 19th partner this year

Insurance expert returns to HFW

HFW has welcomed a returning lawyer as partner in London.

Carol-Ann Burton, who moves back to the firm from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, was formerly a consultant at HFW in London and the Middle East. She was also a senior associate at Clifford Chance and general counsel at the UK Financial Services Authority.

HFW said that Burton has broad experience in financial services regulation, transactions and insurance in private practice. She also advises on complex insurance and reinsurance matters, including life insurance and transactional work.

Burton is the 19th partner added by the global firm this year. That includes three partners in Australia and lateral hires in Brussels, Dubai, Hong Kong, London, Rio de Janeiro, and Singapore.

Burton bolsters the firm’s insurance and reinsurance practice, HFW said.

“Her expertise, international experience and established track record builds on our existing global offering to clients,” said Christopher Cardona, who leads HFW’s insurance and reinsurance team.

“"Carol-Ann brings her broad expertise and regional experience to the Middle East market, where we continue to develop and strengthen our insurance transactions and regulatory practice,” said Sam Wakerly, HFW partner in Dubai.
