Clifford Chance has appointed a new managing partner for its Hong Kong office.

Dauwood Malik has been with the office since 2007. A solicitor admitted in both the UK and Hong Kong, he has gained experience working in London, Tokyo and Singapore.

He focuses on debt finance matters, such as corporate credit, infrastructure financing, real estate development and investment financing. He became a partner in the firm’s banking and finance team in 2011.

Malik has been an APAC knowledge partner for Clifford Chance, as well as a part of the firm’s global partnership council.

“I am delighted to appoint Dauwood Malik as Hong Kong managing partner. I am confident his leadership experience and deep market knowledge will pave the way for the firm's continued success in Hong Kong,” global managing partner Matthew Layton said.

“I am very honoured to be taking on this role,” Malik said. The firm has an extremely impressive track record advising Hong Kong clients on landmark transactions, building on our long history and deep experience in the market. I look forward to making a major contribution to our Hong Kong office whilst continuing to advise my clients.”

Incoming APAC regional managing partner Connie Heng also praised Malik’s inclusion in the APAC management team.

“We are delighted to welcome Dauwood to our Asia Pacific management team. He brings a wealth of experience to the role having been such an active partner of the firm, and a new voice to our dynamic and diverse leadership team,” she said.

Both Malik and Heng will take up their new roles on 1 November.
