The course is presented by three specialists in the field
Victoria University of Wellington will launch a free online course on restorative justice on 1 May.
Part of the university’s VictoriaX program, the course is an introduction to the theory and practice of restorative justice. The course will cover restorative practices and their positive effect on communities. It will also tackle the country’s pioneering role in the movement.
VictoriaX is part of edX, a massive open online course movement founded by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University.
“Restorative justice is a process whereby all the parties with a stake in a particular offence or conflict come together with trained facilitators to have a conversation about what’s happened, what the impact has been and how things can be repaired,” Professor Chris Marshall said.
Marshall, Dr Tom Noakes-Duncan and Haley Farrar will present the course.
