Emma Hoskin named coroner in Auckland

Emma Hoskin has been named a coroner in Auckland in an appointment lauded by the solicitor-general and Crown Law.

She steps into the new role on 18 August and will be sworn in at the Auckland District Court on 22 August.

Hoskin commenced with Crown Law in Auckland as a Crown counsel in 2016. She worked with the criminal group on high-profile and complex criminal cases.

She served as a lead counsel in the Supreme Court and has appeared before the Court of Appeal over 150 times. She also mentored juniors and headed up teams as required.

“I have enjoyed working with Emma on difficult issues that required her very wise judgement and for which she had my complete trust. We are confident she will be a meticulous, efficient, and utterly judicial coroner. We congratulate Emma on her appointment and the Chief Coroner and her team on securing her services”,  Deputy Solicitor-General (Criminal) Madeleine Laracy said.
