Juno Legal has added to its team with Ruth James and Suz Kuru joining the firm.

James works from Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington. She has worked in regulatory, human rights, and privacy law for more than 10 years.

She has taken on senior positions at the Office of the Ombudsman, the Independent Police Conduct Authority and Engineering New Zealand. She led a team in Aotearoa before going to Adelaide for a year.

James is currently working with the Department of Internal Affairs.

Kuru works from Taranaki and has tackled infrastructure, regulatory, and local government law from an in-house perspective for 10 years. She was a senior solicitor at the Environmental Protection Authority and a solicitor at New Plymouth District Council.

As a private practitioner, she logged stints with Bell Gully, Morrison Kent and Spark New Zealand. She is presently advising Waikato Waters.

“Each are well-rounded commercial generalists and bring their own deep expertise: Ruth in regulatory and human rights law, Suz in infrastructure and public sector projects. They bring the right blend of experience and adaptability that so many of our clients value, lawyers who can step in quickly, understand the context, and deliver practical support where it’s needed most”, said Juno head of operations Lisa Lawrence.
