Farmer has taken on commercial litigation cases such as shareholder, joint venture and contractual disputes. Moreover, he has advised on estate litigation matters.

He has acted for the Commerce Commission in a number of cases. Throughout his career, he has appeared before the High Court, the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court, the District Court and Family Court.

Farmer joins an elite team of barristers, a number of whom were ranked in the latest Chamber and Partners guide.

Jane Anderson QC, Jenny Cooper QC, Daniel McLellan QC and Sarah Armstrong were recognised in the category of Dispute Resolution: The Bar. Shortland Chambers itself was ranked as a Band 1 firm in this category.

Meanwhile, Clive Elliott QC and Kevin Glover were ranked in the category of Intellectual Property: The Bar.

Chamber and Partners highlighted the “notably high proportion of senior counsel” in Shortland Chambers’ roster, with interviewees calling it “a bit of a QC factory.”
