The disputes-only firm concentrates mainly on plaintiff work
Litigation specialist firm Campbell and Associates has rebranded to Campbell Westaway.
The firm was first founded by Shane Campbell in May 2025. It concentrates mainly on plaintiff work and indicated that it is the sole dedicated specialist disputes practice of its kind in the South Island region.
Campbell Westaway focuses on commercial disputes, public law litigation, and trusts and estates disputes. Its lawyers have worked on complex commercial litigation involving contractual disputes, shareholder and partnership conflicts, high-value business disagreements, judicial review, and proceedings involving government decision-making.
The firm has worked with trustees, beneficiaries and executors on contentious trust and estate matters related to trust administration, fiduciary obligations, and challenges to wills and estates. The firm’s lawyers have appeared at all levels of New Zealand court – including the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, the High Court and the District Court – as well as specialist tribunals.
Moreover, Campbell Westaway has been instructed in multi-million dollar disputes. It has acted in international and domestic arbitrations.
Thomas Westaway commenced with the firm as a partner this month, with the rebrand reflecting his addition to the team. The firm also welcomed three junior lawyers last year. It added one more junior lawyer to the roster this month; another starts in April.
Campbell Westaway also has a litigation support professional on staff.
