Industry’s best and brightest to shine at the 2020 NZ Law Awards

The best and brightest in the New Zealand legal industry are set to shine in a matter of weeks at the 2020 NZ Law Awards.

The winners will be crowned in a virtual ceremony to be held on 10 December.

“I am very excited that the awards are going ahead despite the fact that we cannot congregate in one place. It will give us the opportunity for individual gatherings to celebrate the award winners,” Resolution Institute COO Trevor Slater said.

The awards honour achievements in various aspects of the legal profession across over 20 categories, including those in deals, in in-house departments and in law firms of all sizes.

“It's important that we are highlighting and celebrating the high quality work, innovation, and positive change happening within New Zealand's legal profession, as well as celebrating the excellence and leadership of those lawyers who are creating new standards,” Russell McVeagh CEO Jo Avenell said. “In a year like no other, we are pleased the awards can continue online to be able to learn from and celebrate the achievements of New Zealand's lawyers from right across the legal profession.”

Kiwi news and radio personality Ryan Bridge will host the event, and the ceremony begins at 6pm. Aspiring attendees can register for free here.

In a first for the NZ Law Awards, winners and finalists will be taking part in moderated panel discussions focusing on the secrets to their success and how they guided their clients through a challenging year. Event attendees and NZ Lawyer readers will gain exclusive access to the panels, which will be released in early 2021.

This year’s awards finalists are listed here.

Russel McVeagh and the Resolution Institute are sponsoring the 2020 NZ Law Awards alongside Simpson Grierson, Western Union Business Solutions and Artemis Executive Recruitment.
