Ed Smithies trades Wynn Williams for MinterEllisonRuddWatts

Former Wynn Williams partner Ed Smithies has made the jump to MinterEllisonRuddWatts real estate partnership.

He brings over two decades of experience in major real estate capital market transactions, commercial investments, and large-scale developments. He has negotiated sale and purchase agreements, leases, development agreements and construction contracts.

Smithies has advised overseas investors in relation to the Overseas Investment Office approval process. He has worked across New Zealand and the UK.

He assisted Deloitte with the development and leasing of its Auckland premises at One Queen Street. He also advised Goodman in relation to Highbrook Business Park developments and guided a Singaporean investor in acquiring, managing and disposing of Kelston Mall.

Smithies represented Nissan New Zealand with regard to the sale and leaseback of its 261 Roscommon Road, Wiri site. Moreover, he acted for a major public transport operator on the sale and leaseback of a portfolio of industrial sites in Auckland.

His other clients have included Kiwi New Zealand, Visy Industries and Precinct Property.

Smithies spent three years at Wynn Williams; prior to this, he was a commercial property partner at Lane Neave, according to LinkedIn. He also logged a seven-year stint at Russell McVeagh, where he was a special counsel.

He also spent time at Pinsent Masons and Langleys Solicitors LLP in York.
