We call it 'intelligent information' because we combine industry expertise with innovative technology to deliver critical information when clients need it most. We provide next-generation legal research and robust practice management solutions and products for lawyers, barristers, government, courts, corporates, academics and students.
In 2019, Thomson Reuters Legal increased head count by 12%, comprising of many legal professionals with extensive experience, including three former judges. We also saw a 20% increase in responses to queries year-on-year for high-quality customer service. We generated and shared expert analysis of trends impacting the legal profession, used industry-wide as a key resource for strategic decision-making, and continued to receive outstanding client feedback that attests to our deep commitment to our customers.
We were particularly proud with the launch our smart legal research software offering, the new Westlaw. Fostering innovation in the wider legal community is a part of Thomson Reuters DNA. In 2019, our in-house innovation lab in the Pyrmont campus expanded, adding two rooms exclusively for the new Westlaw project. This ongoing commitment to growing knowledge, bringing together 40 employees, incorporated design partner feedback through an ANZ-focused beta design partnership program and resulted in helping independent Australian law firms gain a competitive edge.
