Moray & Agnew has announced the appointment of Edmund Burke – who has garnered experience in all areas of employment law and workplace health and safety – as a Brisbane-based partner and leader of its Queensland workplace practice.
“Edmund’s depth of experience and client focused approach make him a valuable addition to the firm,” said Michael Garbett, Brisbane managing partner, in a media release. “We’re excited to welcome him and confident he will make a significant impact.”
In its media release, Moray & Agnew said Burke has a track record of defending complex prosecutions. In his new position, Burke will collaborate with the firm’s national workplace team to assist clients across the state.
“I’m thrilled to lead the Queensland Workplace Practice and supporting our clients through the evolving workplace landscape,” Burke said in the firm’s media release. “I’m also looking forward to being part of the firm’s strong national workplace team and the services they provide to our clients.”
Burke’s experience covers employee misconduct investigations, professional misconduct defence, bullying and discrimination claims, workplace and sexual harassment, performance management, discipline, dismissal, adverse action claims, and workplace defamation.
He has overseen due diligence and employment transfers under the Fair Work Act for domestic and international businesses.
He has also defended companies, individuals, and local councils in proceedings concerning employee injuries and alleging non-compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act.

He served as head of employment and safety at Rouse Lawyers in Brisbane from July 2025 to November 2025. He acted as an employment partner at Dentons in Brisbane from January 2024 to July 2025.
At Holding Redlich in Brisbane, he worked as a partner from July 2020 to January 2024, as special counsel from July 2018 to July 2020, and as a senior associate from July 2016 to July 2018.
At TressCox Lawyers, Burke was an associate from June 2015 to June 2016 and a solicitor from January 2013 to June 2015.
According to Burke’s biography on the firm’s website, he is a member of the Queensland Law Society, the Queensland Industrial Relations Society, the Australian HR Institute, and the Australian Institute of Health and Safety.
His firm bio provides that he earned his bachelor of laws degree from the Queensland University of Technology in 2011 and his bachelor of laws and politics from Queen’s University Belfast in 1998.
