Corporate law firm Thomson Geer has added Adrian Wong, workplace law partner; Katherine Southwell, senior associate; Tara Malishev, associate; and Hailey Summers, graduate, to its Melbourne office.

Thomson Geer said that it hoped that the appointments of Wong and his team would expand the firm’s capability and would add depth to its national employment law offering.

Adrian Tembel, Thomson Geer chief executive partner, welcomed the four additions to the firm. “They are a high performing group of lawyers doing quality work and who will complement our existing Employment practice,” Tembel said in the firm’s media release.

“With Australia's industrial and workplace relations landscape going through significant changes, clients need advisers who have the skills and experience to successfully navigate them,” Tembel added.

“We are excited to join Thomson Geer and become part of its plan for growth,” Wong said in the media release. “We see many opportunities to collaborate across the firm on some of the most pressing and complex workplace issues clients face today.”

With almost two decades of experience in all areas of employment law and workplace relations, Wong focuses his practice on workforce strategy, employment compliance, transfer of business, employee misconduct, and litigation.

He has also handled matters such as enterprise bargaining, wage compliance, and industrial disputes, according to his biography on the firm’s website. His litigation experience encompasses numerous cases before the Fair Work Commission and the courts.

Throughout his career, Wong has garnered diverse experience as a legal and strategic advisor through his roles at global and national firms, in-house client secondments, and a multi-disciplinary professional services firm, as per his bio. He has assisted clients in various industries and sectors, including retail, financial services, higher education, mining, and both federal and state governments.

Thomson Geer has more than 700 people, including over 140 partners, across its offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra.
