Industry veteran Guy Betar becomes the sixth partner of the social-enterprise law firm

Guy Betar has been promoted to partner at Salvos Legal, becoming the sixth partner of the social-enterprise law firm.
A privacy, technology, and intellectual property law expert, Betar joined Salvos Legal in Sydney in 2015 to establish the firm’s IT/IP practice.
Betar is a former partner at Sparke Helmore and Norman Waterhouse. He also has in-house experience, including as corporate counsel for software firm TIBCO.
He has extensive national and international expertise in technology and IP, advising on software, data, cloud, privacy, and related areas. He has acted on commercial transactions in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and the US.
Betar joins Luke Geary, managing partner, in the firm’s corporate and commercial group. Mark Khoo and Maryanne Ireland are the firm’s property partners, while Michael Anglin and Andrea Christie-David are the firm’s humanitarian Law partners.
Salvos Legal, based in Sydney, uses all proceeds from its operations to fund its sister firm, Salvos Legal Humanitarian, which has offices in Sydney and Goodna. Both firms are wholly owned by The Salvation Army.
