Pro bono champion joins Wotton + Kearney

Wotton + Kearney (W+K) has tapped an industry leader for a key task.

Leanne Ho, who’s known for her work in the pro bono and legal assistance sector, has joined W+K to help develop the trans-Tasman firm’s pro bono practice.

The human rights lawyer is well-regarded in the private and not-for-profit sectors in Australia. Internationally, she is known for her work as a legal advisor to the United Nations.

“Leanne has been influential in the development of our pro bono activities, firstly in the early stages of our community footprint when she was working at the Australian Pro Bono Centre, a highly regarded resource for emerging pro bono practices, and then subsequently through her leadership of projects with our pro bono partners, the Refugee Advice & Casework Service and the Seniors Rights Service,” said Heidi Nash-Smith, W+K’s head of pro bono.

Ho will work alongside teams in the firm’s offices across Australia as they develop new programs with community partners. She will also support the firm with existing projects and casework, W+K said.

Ho was previously tapped by legacy Henry Davis York and Colin Biggers & Paisley for pro bono and responsible business consulting.
