Shearman & Sterling leaders believe that Hamp’s skillset boosts the firm’s English law leveraged finance offering.

“We are excited to welcome Gary to the firm. His energy, enthusiasm and experience complement our existing offering, bolstering our English law leveraged finance capability,” said Ward McKimm, global head of leverage finance and European regional managing partner.

McKimm said that Hamp’s appointment was indicative of “our commitment to continue expanding our global leveraged finance practice.”

“[Gary's] addition demonstrates the continued execution of our long-term strategy, which includes growing revenues in finance and remaining a global elite firm,” senior partner David Beveridge said.

Hamp said he was excited to collaborate with McKimm and the rest of the team to help clients “capitalise on current market opportunities, continuing the further expansion of the firm's global leveraged finance offering.”

Shearman & Sterling also welcomed Alex Wood to its insolvency and restructuring partnership in London; Wood starts with the firm on 14 September. The firm also brought Alan Rockwell and Michael Chernick into its US branch last October.
