New CEO to lead Carter Newell

Marc Walker has been named Carter Newell’s new CEO effective today.

The appointment was made as Carter Newell prepares to celebrate 35 years in the profession. In his role, Walker will concentrate on culture, recruitment, and business development in addition to leading and facilitating collaborative relationships between the management team and the partners. He will work alongside chair of partners Paul Hopkins and board chair Antonia Mercorella.

Walker previously served as COO of a national law firm. He comes in with over two decades of operational, marketing, and business development leadership.

“I’m excited about injecting my own unique learnings and experience, while of course championing Carter Newell’s renowned culture and existing inherent strengths which have characterised its success over the years”, Walker said. “The firm has achieved tremendous growth, and I look forward to working with Paul, the board, the partners, and the broader team to continue this trajectory into the next stage”.

Hopkins confirmed that Walker was chosen for the position after “a rigorous and competitive search”.

Walker will operate from the firm’s Brisbane office, making the move from Sydney.
