He was previously APAC region chair at the global network
Global legal network Multilaw has appointed a new chair in Paul Kirton, legal practice director at Macpherson Kelley.
He ascends to the leadership post after stints as APAC region chair and chair-elect, the latter being a role to which he was elected in September 2024. Kirton takes over the post from Perez-Llorca Mexico’s Jorge Mondragón.
“Paul has been a valued contributor to Multilaw for many years now, and we’ve benefited greatly from his legal experience and enthusiastic collaboration with both our membership and leadership team. As he steps into the role of chair, there’s no doubt our organisation will continue to go from strength to strength”, Multilaw CEO Adam Cooke said.
Kirton has been working with Multilaw since 2014. The organisation described him as a “global citizen” who has resided in West Africa, North Africa, and England in addition to Australia.
He focuses on IP, trade and competition law and has worked with both multinational companies and Australian businesses operating worldwide.
“Cross-border commercial advice has been a cornerstone of what we offer our clients at Macpherson Kelley, and much of that has been rooted in our involvement with Multilaw. I’m excited for what this will mean for our clients as we strengthen our presence on an international stage”, Kirton said.
As Multilaw chair, he will oversee the network’s board, spearheading the organisation’s governance and strategic direction. He will lead Multilaw for two-year term.
Macpherson Kelley is the sole Australian law firm in Multilaw’s more than 100-strong membership.
