Intellectual property specialist firm James & Wells has continued to solidify its practice with the addition of a new partner in Brisbane.

Seasoned patent attorney Adam Luxton has joined the firm after serving as principal at IP firm Spruson & Ferguson.

He brings extensive expertise in engineering and information and communications technology (ICT), particularly in the fields of mining, energy, medical devices, and consumer products.

Luxton boasts significant experience working with domestic and multinational companies in various IP transactions. He has acted as lead attorney in several patent matters in the Australian Federal Court and has been involved in many opposition matters before the Australian Patent Office.

Tim Walden, managing partner at James & Wells, expressed excitement over Luxton’s appointment.

“We are fortunate to have Adam join the team and expand our Australian operations in such uncertain times,” he said. “While other firms are consolidating, James & Wells is expanding its global presence, and remains dedicated to providing client focussed, independent intellectual property services.”

Meanwhile, Luxton said he was “very happy and proud” to be part of the IP firm’s partnership.

“I’ve known several of the James & Wells partners for many years and have always admired from afar the culture of the firm and the successes they have achieved,” he said.
