HSF launches global legal operations function

In an effort to streamline processes and provide more effective and efficient services to their clients and lawyers, Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has recently unveiled its global Legal Operations function.

The new function will merge HSF’s legal project management, pricing, legal process improvement, innovation, and automation teams into a single operations unit, creating a single point of access for clients and lawyers.

The Legal Operations function will be led by Ian Gilbert, director of legal operations, with a global team of 50 people in major hubs in Hong Kong, London, Melbourne, and Sydney.

"Many clients today are bringing together their own legal operations teams to provide a range of critical business support services for their in-house lawyers," said Mark Rigotti, CEO of HSF. "By forming our own legal operations function, we are able to sing from the same hymn sheet as our clients and work with them in a more streamlined and innovative way, ultimately providing them with even better service."
