Dentons to continue supporting Australian Sporting Alliance for People with Disability

Dentons will remain the Australian Sporting Alliance for People with Disability’s (ASAPD) legal partner this year.

The two organisations first inked the strategic partnership in 2024. With its renewal, Dentons is set to continue providing legal support on governance, charity law and taxation, IP, employment, safeguarding, risk management, integrity and conduct matters.

The firm will assist ASAPD and its affiliated national sporting organisations for people with disability: Blind Sports Australia, Boccia Australia, Deaf Sports Australia, Disability Sports Australia, Disabled Wintersport Australia, Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia, Special Olympics Australia, Sport Inclusion Australia, and Transplant Australia. The alliance champions inclusive sport and active recreation for people with disability through collaboration and support provision.

“Dentons has become a trusted partner to ASAPD and our member organisations. Partners Campbell Hudson, Caroline Snow and their team understand the challenges and opportunities within disability sport and consistently provide practical, high-quality support”, said Dr Phil Hamdorf, ASAPD’s CEO. “We are pleased to continue building on the relationship in 2026 as we work towards greater inclusion and participation in sport for Australians with disability”.

Hudson, who is a partner in Dentons’ charities and not-for-profit sector practice group, highlighted ASAPD’s contribution to inclusive sport in the country.

“ASAPD plays a vital role in strengthening inclusive sport in Australia and we are delighted to continue supporting the organisation and its affiliated members. At Dentons, we are proud to support Australia’s vibrant charity and not-for-profit sector by delivering legal services that are accessible, practical and tailored to the needs of purpose-driven organisations”, he said. “We understand the complex environment these organisations operate in and help clients navigate challenges with confidence so that they can focus on delivering impact in the community”.

Hudson added that the firm’s support of ASAPD was particularly important in light of Brisbane 2032’s approach.

Recently, ASAPD collaborated with specialists on the Easy English translation of the National Integrity Framework Policies. The translation would aid those with intellectual or cognitive impairments and their support workers, those for whom English is a second language, and those with low literacy levels in understanding their rights and responsibilities in maintaining the safety of sport for all.
