Thomson Geer played a key role in the expansion and upgrade of the country’s fifth busiest airport.

The firm advised Adelaide Airport on its terminal expansion project, which commenced work in 2018 at an estimated cost of $165m.

The firm has been a longstanding adviser on the project, having been involved since the planning stages in mid-2018, with a project team headed by partner Tony Saint and special counsel Shannon Schwarz. The team advised on all construction documentation.

The firm also fielded a property and leasing team to advise the airport on the negotiation and drafting of leases for new tenancies. The team was headed by partners Michael Liebich and Chris Kelly, and included associate Jessica Blank and lawyer Stephanie Cogno-Maglieri.

Adelaide Airport services more than eight million passengers each year, and the expansion aims to significantly improve the arrival and departure experience and provide more retail and dining options. Enhancements include a longer baggage belt, more spacious immigration processing centres, larger duty-free precincts, and a dedicated international departures gate.
