Wynyard Wood has promoted senior associate Wincy Cheung to director.

“Wincy’s promotion strengthens our senior leadership team to five directors and furthers the strategic vision of the firm to grow its corporate and commercial law practice offering to the local community,” director Arthur Chung said.

Cheung brings over 18 years of legal experience to the new position. She kicked off her career in the UK as a company commercial solicitor focusing on M&A, joint ventures, shareholder arrangements, and company restructures.

For 10 years, she represented SME and entrepreneurial businesses. She has also provided guidance on shareholder and investment agreements, commercial contracts, and exit strategies for owner-managed businesses, such as family businesses.

In 2014, Cheung relocated to New Zealand, joining Bell Gully as a senior associate. She then transitioned to an in-house role with Kainga Ora, where she was a senior legal counsel. In this period, she expanded her expertise to matters involving construction, infrastructure, and project development.

Cheung joined Wynyard Wood in 2021. According to the firm, she will continue to focus on working with commercial clients in East Auckland and South Auckland.
