New partner promotion bolsters Hesketh Henry's corporate and commercial practice

Hesketh Henry has promoted Ben Hickson to partner effective 1 January 2024, bolstering its corporate and commercial practice group.

Hickson started with Hesketh Henry as a solicitor in 2012 and trained initially in the firm’s commercial property team. He then relocated to Southeast Asia where he practised as a corporate lawyer for eight years.

He logged a stint as senior associate at Stephenson Harwood’s Singapore office, working with the corporate and M&A group. He specialised in deals involving cross-border M&A and foreign direct investment deals into Myanmar and the wider region during this period.

Hickson has advised on M&A transactions, foreign investment, joint venture arrangements, corporate governance matters, commercial licencing, and other business regulatory issues. Additionally, he has a background in New Zealand property law; he has guided real estate developers, hotel operators, and other property investors on acquisitions, commercial development, disposals, leasing, and other property-related matters across New Zealand and Southeast Asia.

He has been a judge for the PropertyGuru Myanmar Property Awards since 2015. He is also a founding member of the New Zealand Myanmar Chamber of Commerce, where he once served as director and secretary.

Hickson rejoined Hesketh Henry’s corporate and commercial practice group as a senior associate in 2021.
