This week, Bell Gully, Chapman Tripp, Bankside Chambers and Juno Legal announced new hires and promotions in their firms.
Mark Gillard has been named special counsel at Bell Gully while Alice Kenny, Fred Kelly and Oliver Feslier Holmes beef up the senior associates’ roster.
Gillard is a construction and infrastructure lawyer who has worked across Australia and New Zealand. He is based in Wellington.
Kenny is an expert in litigation and dispute resolution and restructuring and insolvency. She practises from Auckland.
Kelly brings experience with white collar crime and regulatory enforcement. He is based in Auckland.
Feslier Holmes is a corporate law specialist focusing on M&A, private equity, capital raisings and joint ventures. He works from Auckland.
The firm promoted Alexandra Bensemann, Doug Tang, Hamish Journeaux, James Watson and Stephanie Atkinson to senior associates.
Bensemann is a competition and regulatory law specialist who has worked with Chapman Tripp’s tax team. She is based in Wellington.
Tang focuses on financial services law, particularly regulation and compliance. He works from the Wellington office
Journeaux concentrates on tax law. He practises from Wellington.
Watson is a commercial property specialist who concentrates specifically on complex acquisitions and disposals, syndications, leasing, subdivisions and development projects. He is based in Auckland.
Atkinson focuses on corporate and commercial law, especially M&A, corporate governance, commercial contracts, and privacy and data protection. She is based in Christchurch.
The promotions took effect on 1 June.
Commercial barrister Mike Colson KC has joined the chambers. He has worked on commercial and public law matters such as those involving insolvency, property, negligence, energy, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
He will operate from both Wellington and Auckland. Concurrently, he works with Stout Street Chambers in Wellington.
Philie Deo and Natalie Marshall have joined Juno Legal as senior lawyers.
Deo’s practice focuses on commercial, regulatory, governance, privacy and medico-legal matters. She has been supporting Wellington Water and is based in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
Marshall has handled regulatory, privacy, governance and commercial matters. She works from Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington and is presently supporting the Upper Hutt City Council.
