This week, Lane Neave promoted a partner, while Buddle Findlay and BE Employment Law welcomed new hires to senior associate and associate roles. Britomart Chambers also announced a new addition.

Lane Neave

Alex Stone has become the youngest partner in Lane Neave history, pending the fulfilment of Law Society requirements.

He works from Christchurch and focuses on corporate and commercial law, tackling matters involving financial markets, financial services, capital raising, investment funds, franchising and corporate advisory. He first joined the firm in 2017 as a graduate law clerk.

Buddle Findlay

Annie O’Connor and Man Sum Chiu have become senior associates at Buddle Findlay.

O’Connor works with the Wellington resource management and environment team in Auckland. She focuses on resource management, environment, land planning, local government and Māori law.

Chiu operates from Auckland, practising with the property and construction team. She has tackled commercial property and commercial leasing matters with expertise in shopping centre and retail leasing and development in New Zealand.

Britomart Chambers

Dr Jonathan Coates has commenced with Britomart Chambers. He specialises in health law, professional regulation and discipline, and public law.

He is also a member of Canterbury Chambers in Christchurch. He has also handled litigation.

BE Employment Law

Jordan Denton has joined BE Employment Law as an associate. She works on employment law matters and litigation.

Other appointments in recent weeks

Cavell Leitch brought in partner Rodney Craig. He focuses on business formation, capital raising, scale, acquisition and exit matters, particularly technology-sector capital raising and equity crowdfunding. The firm also launched a Wellington office.

Carson Fox Legal promoted Deena Chen to associate. She has handled trusts, estate planning, and relationship property matters. The firm also elevated Adam van Heezik to senior lawyer. He works with Carson Fox Legal’s commercial team, tackling property and commercial deals.

Earlier this month, Bell Gully, Chapman Tripp, Bankside Chambers and Juno Legal announced new appointments. Bell Gully welcomed a new special counsel and senior associates; Chapman Tripp brought in new senior associates; Bankside Chambers took on a barrister; and Juno Legal revealed its new senior lawyers. The appointments were made across Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland.
