Buddle Findlay has promoted litigator Shaun Brookes to partner.

Brookes joined the partnership today 1 July. He focuses on employment law, industrial relations, human rights, privacy, health and safety, dispute resolution and regulatory enforcement.

Based in Christchurch, he has worked with the public sector, local government, private businesses and charities. He has tackled matters involving terminations, investigations, bullying and harassment, redundancy and restructuring, Holiday Act entitlements, and industrial relations.

Brookes has appeared before the Employment Relations Authority, the Employment Court, and the Human Rights Commission. He has acted for councils on regulatory enforcement and prosecutions; moreover, he has handled WorkSafe investigations and prosecutions.

He holds an an Association of Workplace Investigators certificate, which enables him to investigate bullying, harassment, employee theft, and health and safety violations, among others.

New senior associates

Hanna Tevita and Vaash Singh were also elevated to senior associate at Buddle Findlay today.

Tevita is based in Wellington and works with the employment team. She has tackled matters involving personal grievances, disciplinary processes, health and safety, organisational change and restructure processes, parental law, privacy and education law.

She has a special interest in issues related to medical incapacity and mental health in the workplace. She also has dispute resolution and mediation experience and has appeared before the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court.

Singh practises with the TMT team in Auckland. She has handled matters involving the procurement, development, supply and commercialisation of technology. 

She has also worked on issues involving all aspects of New Zealand privacy laws, including cross-border data transfers, data breach management and response, and regulatory engagement with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. Her clients have included startups, listed companies and public sector organisations.
