DBH Lawyers names the firm’s youngest equity partner as its new managing partner.

Amy Nikolovski becomes the youngest and only woman to take the helm at a major SA law firm, DBH said. The 39-year-old succeeds Matt DeGregorio in the post.

“I feel both honoured and humbled to be appointed managing partner of DBH. For more than 50 years, DBH has not only been an industry leader in legal practice, but also through the way in which we give back to the communities that we serve. I’m looking forward to continuing to develop the firm’s legacy, by working in partnership with our clients to deliver great outcomes, being involved in community projects and events, and leading our team of exceptional people into an exciting new era for the firm,” Nikolovski said.

Nikolovski made partner at the firm in 2015, and was the first woman to become an equity partner at the firm in over two decades. Her practice focuses on workers compensation, motor vehicle accident, public liability and general personal injury law.

A champion of gender equity and diversity, Nikolovski served as the immediate past chair of the equality, diversity and inclusion committee. She was also the founding partner of Doing Business in Heels, DBH’s women’s professional networking group.

She was elected president of the SA Law Society in 2019 – the organisation’s youngest president at the time – and was the first to give birth while in the position. From 2018 to 2021, she acted as the SA representative on the Law Council of Australia’s equal opportunity committee.

“Aside from being recognised as a leading lawyer across her areas of expertise in South Australia and nationally, Amy’s passion, drive and commitment to supporting women in the legal profession is well recognised,” DeGregorio said. “I have no doubt that over the next few years she will continue to provide outstanding leadership for the firm, and in true Amy spirit, continue to break down barriers and act as a fantastic role model for the next generation of lawyers.”

He confirmed that Nikolovski had been the clear choice to succeed him in leading DBH.

This leadership change follows the recent announcement of the firm’s rebrand from Duncan Basheer Hannon to DBH Lawyers. The firm also announced that Christopher Symons would be DBH’s newest associate.
