Hall & Wilcox has admitted former McCabes principal Priya Paquet to its partnership in Brisbane.

A highly regarded insurance lawyer, Paquet specialises in dealing with general insurance matters. She regularly advises insurers on policy interpretation, indemnity, property liability, large loss recoveries, and matters relating to the Insurance Contracts Act 1984, such as non-disclosure and misrepresentation.

She also has extensive expertise in large property damage and liability, and fraud claims and recoveries. She has represented numerous clients before the Local Court, District Court and the Supreme Court.

Paquet’s tenure at McCabes lasted over three years. She was also once a partner at TurksLegal.

“In addition to already having some great synergies with respect to our mutual clients, I am so excited to be part of a firm that places such a strong emphasis on its people,” Paquet said. “I am really looking forward to collaborating with my colleagues and clients to deliver exceptional service.”

Hall & Wilcox insurance section head Rhett Slocombe said that Paquet’s appointment will add “depth and capability” to the firm’s insurance practice.

“There is great demand by our clients to broaden our Brisbane offering in the specialist property insurance area,” Slocombe said. “Priya is highly regarded in the broader insurance sector and is a perfect fit for Hall & Wilcox’s culture of collaboration, client service, expertise and values.”
