Hicksons has strengthened its commercial dispute resolution team in Sydney with the hire of new partner Troy Gurnett and new senior associate Liam Maguire.

According to commercial dispute resolution partner Chloe Ellis, the move is in line with the firm’s transition to developing new talent and expanding its litigation services across new sectors.

Gurnett brings to the firm over two decades of experience in commercial litigation. His experience spans a wide range of areas, including contract and equity claims, matters under the Corporations Act and regulatory issues. He has also handled copyright and trademark disputes, as well as cases involving confidential information and trade secrets and administrative law concerns.

Prior to joining Hicksons, he was a partner at Kardos Scanlan for two years and a partner at Bird & Bird for over six years.

Maguire is a commercial litigator with almost a decade of experience handling complex contractual and equitable claims, as well as various regulatory matters.

Earlier this year, the firm also promoted ten staff members.
