TransPerfect expands to Sydney

TransPerfect Legal Solutions (TLS) has boosted its e-discovery capabilities with an expansion in Sydney.

The company, which provides e-discovery and litigation support services to both law firms and in-house teams, has added a secure data-processing and hosting centre and a local client-service team in the New South Wales capital.

“Australia is an active and complex legal market, and establishing this new facility in Sydney will allow TLS to deliver at a higher level for our local clients, particularly those that prefer to conduct e-discovery and host data in-country,” said Phil Shawe, TransPerfect president and chief executive.

He said that the company looks forward to continued expansion in Australia and in the Asia-Pacific region.

The company’s new office in Sydney has 30 people and an access-controlled forensics lab for secure collection and storage of case data. The office launch shows the company’s commitment to what it says is a “significant global hub.”

TLS said that the market in Australia for e-discovery services for class actions, general commercial litigations, and regulatory matters is well established. It also said that market demand for capable e-discovery providers is rapidly increasing.

TLS also has data-processing and hosting centres in New Jersey, Virginia, Toronto, London, Hong Kong, and Beijing. It has service teams in 18 cities and forensics laboratories in 12 cities around the world.
