Support for Lawyers teams up with mattero on free mental health webinar for lawyers

Specialist counselling service Support for Lawyers has teamed up with mattero on a free mental wealth webinar to be held for lawyers.

The lunchtime event will be held on 8 September, and will explore topics such as warning signs for legal professionals, empathetic approaches to R U OK, mental health support for those in the profession and healthy coping strategies.

“Lawyers are in the high-risk category for mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety,

sleeplessness, panic disorders and burnout,” mattero pointed out in a press release. “It’s not uncommon to feel daunted by the idea of asking someone ‘R U OK’?”

The legal software provider highlighted the purpose of R U OK Day, which is to “foster a sense of belonging and encourage people to reach out when they need help” and address the stigma around mental health. The webinar seeks to examine how R U OK conversations can be handled, notably if a person reveals that they’re not OK.

The webinar will take place at 12pm AEST.

With seasoned psychologists and counsellors on staff who understand the mental health concerns plaguing lawyers in particular, Support for Lawyers offers private counselling online. Meanwhile, mattero was awarded a trust certification by the NSW Law Society last year.
