Private operator sells Australian medical centres business with aid from Allens, HSF
Two top firms acted as an Australian private healthcare operator sold its network of standalone medical centres business to a Singapore-based company.

Healthscope Limited, which was advised by Allens, sold its 43 medical centres, four specialist skin clinics, and a breast cancer diagnostic clinic, to Fullerton Health, which was advised by Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF).

“Australia's healthcare sector continues to attract significant private investment interest, particularly from Asia. And with increasing healthcare needs in Australia, there is little sign of this sector dynamic changing,” said Emin Altiparmak, lead partner of the Allens team. “The shifting regulatory sands in this sector have not dissuaded strategic or financial investors from pursuing investment opportunities, and what we're seeing in this deal is a recognition of the increasing role played by medical centres in our healthcare ecosystem.”

The Allens legal team also included partner Fiona Crosbie, managing associate Annabelle Aland, senior associates Jonathan Hoe and Amanda Richman, associate Julian Holland, and graduate Kate Buchanan.

The HSF team was led by partner Natalie Bryce, who was assisted by solicitor Sarah Dean.
