He joined Queensland firm in 2012 to head its property group
RedeMont, an independent law firm based on the Gold Coast, has announced the appointment of Bryce Melville as its new managing partner, as of 1 July 2025.
In its media release, the firm described Melville’s promotion as a milestone in its continued evolution as a Queensland-based legal practice.
He joined RedeMont in 2012 to head the firm’s property group following senior roles in firms in Australia and the UK, according to the firm’s media release. He has spent 13 years in RedeMont’s leadership team and garnered over 25 years of experience in commercial property matters in his legal practice.
“It’s an honour to take on this position at a firm I’m incredibly proud to be part of,” Melville said in the media release. “RedeMont has always been defined by its client focus, commercial insight and legal excellence.”
According to his biography on the firm’s website, he has advised corporations, government, developers, investors, and national landlords and tenants. He focuses on acquisitions and disposals of large portfolios of mixed commercial property.
His bio states that he also handles matters involving major property projects, retail, commercial and development leasing, subdivision, strata titling, and due diligence investigations.
Beyond his practice at RedeMont, Melville is an active member of the Property Council of Australia’s Gold Coast committee and the Bond University Faculty of Law advisory board. He mentors the next generation of lawyers through his work with Bond University.
Melville has replaced Ken Petty, who has served for over a decade as managing partner. At RedeMont, Petty will keep leading practice areas such as corporate advisory and governance, insurance and risk, deals and capital investment, and workplace relations.
“We’re always looking for ways to evolve and leadership renewal is a vital part of that strategy,” Petty said in the media release. “The timing is right to bring in a fresh perspective and I’m confident Bryce will lead RedeMont into its next chapter with integrity and vision.”
Petty has clocked almost three decades at RedeMont and its predecessor firms. He has assisted clients coming from the government, private enterprise, family offices, and the not-for-profit sector.
“I look forward to building on the strong foundations Ken has established and continuing to support our people to thrive as professionals and individuals,” Melville said in the media release.
The firm previously announced its departure from MinterEllison Gold Coast and its rebrand as RedeMont.
