DLA Piper has advised POSCO International Corporation as it invested an additional US$40m in ASX lister Black Rock Mining Limited.

According to Australian team co-lead partner Matthew Watkins, the investment “will contribute to the development of a long life, global graphite resource of scale”.

“Once in production, the project will provide a significant new source of natural graphite into a highly dependent global market driven by clean energy demand”, he explained.

Energy and natural resources global co-chair Alex Jones confirmed that DLA Piper’s wider team on the transaction was composed of “mining experts across our Perth, Seoul, and Dar es Salaam offices”.

Watkins and Jones led the Australian team with assistance from Nick Sceales (special counsel, finance) and Kirsty Hall (senior associate, corporate). The South Korean team was spearheaded by Daniel Lee (partner, corporate), with support from Robert Song (senior associate, corporate). The Tanzanian team was helmed by partners Angela Mndolwa and Burure Ngocho, with assistance from senior associate Pascal Mwanyika.
