The team includes a seasoned partner and two lawyers
A national firm has added a financial services team, including a new partner in Sydney.
Andrea Beatty has commenced at Piper Alderman as a partner. She brought to the firm two other lawyers and an administrative assistant from NewLaw outfit Keypoint Law, where she was a consulting principal since 2016.
With more than 20 years’ experience in financial services regulation and corporate finance, Beatty is a former partner at legacy Mallesons Stephen Jaques and then at K&L Gates.

Her practice is very much aligned with our existing offering and the skills, experience and relationships she has will help us continue to build upon the foundations of our existing practice and deepen our relationships with our key clients in line with our strategic goals,” said Tony Britten-Jones, Piper Alderman managing partner.
Beatty joins the firm’s national banking and financial services team, which includes Shannon Adams, Joshua Annese, Mark Gordon, and Martin Lovell. She is the sixth female partner appointment of the firm this year. Joanne Hardwick and Sarah Johnson moved to the firm, while Valerie Blacker, Maria Capati, and Lillian Rizio were among the seven partners promoted in the middle of the year.
Beatty advises and represents start-ups, Australian financial services licensees (AFSL), and Australian credit licensees (ACL) on all aspects of financial services regulation and corporate finance on matters including license applications, regulatory compliance projects and audits, regulatory enforcement defences, and regulator investigations and disputes. Her experience also includes advising on financial products and channels, including peer-to-peer lending platforms, crowdfunding, payment systems, cryptocurrency, rewards programs, gift cards, and financial services acquisitions, disposals and alliances.
