Vario, the flexible lawyer solution which launched in Australia last year, is expanding to Singapore.
The service was originally launched in the UK by global law firm Pinsent Masons and has seen growing demand, leading to the enhancement for the Asia Pacific operations.
Pinsent Masons MPillay, a key hub for the firm in the region, will officially launch the Vario service in mid-2018. It will be led by Kate Cauldwell-Hunt who will relocate from the UK and work closely with Vario Australia while building a team of around 30 local consultants.
Matthew Kay, director of Vario, says that although the markets in Australia and the UK are very different from Singapore, demand is there.
“Singapore is a buoyant market where clients have a clear appetite for innovation. Vario Singapore will be providing fresh opportunities to both legal professionals and organisations that are looking for flexibility in the workplace,” he said.
The expansion to Singapore is expected to be followed by growth to other key Asian markets in due course.
The London-based project is part of Barclays Bank’s Eagle Labs and will help legal-tech innovators develop and refine their products and services.

Clifford Chance’s Global Head of Innovation and Business Change explained why the firm is getting involved.

Daicic began her career at the national firm before relocating to London with a Magic Circle firm. She has since worked at specialist, national, and international top-tier firms.
She rejoins Corrs from the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) where she was a full-time legal tribunal member.
“Carol has extensive advisory, transactional and contentious environmental and planning experience, with deep relationships with Government and private sector developers,” said Corrs Partner and CEO John W.H. Denton AO, adding that the firm is thrilled to welcome her back.
