Salvos Legal has appointed partner Andrea Christie-David as chief operating officer for Salvos Legal Humanitarian, the firm’s philanthropic arm.

Christie-David, a humanitarian partner of the firm, will lead Salvos Legal Humanitarian’s legal education projects. She hits the ground running with the launch of the firm’s “Good Law Podcast,” a legal education show that will help fund the firm’s free legal services through sales.

The seasoned lawyer has in-house, private practice, and public sector experience. In legal education, she was previously Migration Institute of Australia’s education and training chief in addition to teaching at Macquarie University, Griffith University, and the Australian National University.

She started her law career as a paralegal at Clayton Utz before moving to in-house roles at the National Australia Bank and Hutchison 3G Australia. She has also worked for the United Nations, the Immigration Advice and Rights Centre, and Relationships Australia NSW. She also ran her own practice for almost four years.

Christie-David said she is truly excited about the launch of the Good Law Podcast to generate more income to support the firm’s social good work. The podcasts gives lawyers the opportunity to give back to the community while also satisfying their legal education needs.

The podcast covers professional development topics as well as other topics of public interest. It is launching with eight episodes, including discussions with the Hon. Michael Kirby on navigating special leave in the High Court; with judge Richard Cogswell on ethics, morals, and values; and with Kate Eastman SC on how to prepare and conduct cross-examination.

The Good Law Podcast is available here, starting at $65 per episode.
