Maddocks boosts public law team in Canberra

Maddocks has strengthened its public law team in Canberra with the addition of an administrative law and litigation expert.

Kim Robbins has been appointed as a consultant, adding to the firm her extensive experience working in commonwealth agencies and private practice. She specialises in advising on administrative law matters, statutory interpretation, and dispute resolution and litigation. She is also an expert in implementation of policy, including drafting legislative schemes, the firm said.

Robbins was previously branch manager of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Legal Branch of the National Disability Insurance Agency. She was also previously practice group leader of the litigation unit of the Commonwealth Department of Health. Robbins is a former partner of legacy DLA Phillips Fox.

“Administrative law and litigation are a key focus of the public law practice for Maddocks, and we work with the commonwealth on administrative law and public litigation matters across all of our offices,” said Caroline Atkins, Canberra-based partner and head of the Maddocks public law team. “Kim brings a great deal of insight into the way commonwealth departments and agencies approach administrative law issues and public law litigation and will be an exceptional addition to our public law offering.”

Robbins commenced at Maddocks last week. Her arrival comes after the firm added Veena Bedekar in Canberra as a special counsel, boosting the firm’s probity and property teams. Bedekar joined from HWL Ebsworth and is also an alumnus of DLA Piper.
