Law firm study predicts China outbound M&A will buck global trend
China’s outbound mergers and acquisitions deals will buck a global trend of slower activity according to a report from Allen & Overy.
The law firm says that global M&A values are down 22.5 per cent year-on-year with volumes down 7.8 per cent; a situation that will be compounded by economic and political uncertainties including Brexit, commodity prices, the Middle East and US interest rates.
It expects that the second half of 2016 will continue to be slow in the M&A market but that China will continue to see strong growth following the record-breaking year of outbound deals in 2015, which has been outstripped in the first half of this year.
Much of the interest from Chinese companies has been in European entities due to easier regulation.

New book highlights 200 notable Australian Law judgments

Herbert Smith Freehills graduate Daniel Reynolds and King & Wood Mallesons graduate Lyndon Goddard have authored “Leading Cases in Australian Law” designed to benefit both law students and practising lawyers.
The book, published by Federation Press, includes a summary of the facts in each case but also key statements on the judgments, commentary and references to further reading.
