Panamanian investigators have raided a property used by the law firm at the centre of the Panama Papers scandal.
Panamanian investigators have seized a large amount of evidence during a raid on a Mossack Fonseca property.
Investigators removed bags full of shredded documents, a local prosecutor said.
“We have secured a large amount of evidence found in the location,” said organised crime investigator Javier Caraballo.
According to a report by Reuters, the firm said in a statement it had digitised all documents and the shredded papers were to be recycled, adding that prosecutors already had copies of all documents they removed on Friday.
Mossack Fonseca maintains it has broken no laws and destroyed no documents in the leak dubbed the Panama Papers which shone spotlight onto the world of offshore companies.
Governments all over the world have begun investigating possible wrongdoing among the rich and powerful as a result of the leak.
