International firm relocates senior partner to Asia-Pacific
In a move recognising the growing importance of the Asia Pacific region, Ince & Co’s international senior partner is relocating to Hong Kong.
Jan Heuvels currently splits his time between the international firm’s London and Hamburg offices but will move to Hong Kong next month as the firm eyes growth of its practice in the city and the wider region, especially as China’s global influence grows.
“My relocation to Hong Kong is simply about playing to our strengths. Our established presence in Asia, coupled with our focus on sectors of strategic importance to clients with interests in the region, give us a strong foundation for future growth. I will be responsible for helping to drive that growth, while maintaining my role as International Senior Partner,” Heuvels explained.
Ince opened its Hong Kong office in 1979 and has added Singapore (1991) and Beijing (2012) since.

Lawyers and staff at Herbert Smith Freehills are taking part in the firm’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Week.
The annual initiative celebrates and raises awareness of diversity and inclusion through events at the firm’s offices across the world and this year the theme is ‘Inclusive Leadership.’
Among the key events taking place are a glimpse into how diversity will affect workplaces in the future (Sydney), female barristers’ networking event (Brisbane), diversity panel event with the Asian Australian Lawyers Association and the Women Barristers Association (Melbourne), and a breakfast seminar with Australian Human Rights Commission Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins (Perth).
We know that a diverse and inclusive workplace is more engaged and encourages innovation by harnessing the strength of different ways of thinking and working. Offshore-specialist Harneys has hired former DLA Piper equity partner Lorinda Peasland as a consultant in Hong Kong.
With over 25 years of experience in restructuring and insolvency, Ms. Peasland will bolster the firm’s practice and support partner Ian Mann, head of Harneys' Asia Litigation and Restructuring Practice, and partner Chai Ridgers, who leads Harneys' Restructuring and Insolvency Department in Hong Kong.
