Melbourne-based law firm Madgwicks Lawyers has announced the appointment of Brad Marland – who has more than a decade of experience as a property partner and over two decades as a legal practitioner – as a principal lawyer in its property practice. 

“Brad’s appointment is a key part of our ongoing investment in high-calibre talent and supports the continued growth of our Property Practice,” said Laurance Davis, Madgwicks’ principal, in the firm’s media release. 

“I’m excited to be joining Madgwicks at a time of strategic growth,” Marland added in the media release. “The firm’s entrepreneurial mindset and strong client centric culture resonate with my own values.” 

Marland’s biography on the firm’s website provides more information on his practice. He focuses on residential and commercial projects. He has also garnered experience in leasing and property development. 

His client work has covered property acquisitions and disposals, large-scale developments, joint venture agreements, and project management arrangements. 

Marland has also helped clients buy and sell high-rise residential and commercial development sites, hotels, and shopping centres, as well as lease commercial offices, industrial sites, and retail precincts. 

“His experience, relationships and leadership will not only add depth to our Property Practice but also support our broader vision growth and influence,” Davis said in the firm’s media release

Most recently, he served as a director for property at Velocity Legal in Melbourne from February 2025 to July 2025, a non-Indigenous co-chair at Reconciliation Queensland in Brisbane from November 2023 to April 2025, and a council member of the Yalari Northern Regional Council in Brisbane from October 2021 to November 2024. 

Marland has also been a property and projects partner at Hall & Wilcox in Brisbane from May 2022 to October 2024 and a board director at Independent Indigenous Tourism Operators of Queensland (IITOQ) from November 2021 to November 2023. 

He has also acted as a diversity and inclusion committee member at the Property Council of Australia in Brisbane from January 2021 to April 2022 and as a property partner at Gadens in Brisbane from April 2016 to April 2022. 

Marland earned his bachelor’s degree in international relations and affairs from Boston University in 1998 and his bachelor of laws degree from the University of Wollongong in 2001.
